Wanderers of Colour
Climbing Festival
6-9 August 2026 | Peak DistrictIt’s our 10th birthday and we’re celebrating with our second ever climbing festival! Join us for Europe's only climbing festival by and for Black and people of colour. We are heading to the Peak District for a weekend of climbing, community, and joy! Our events are open to all BPOC - whether you’re an experienced climber or a complete beginner this festival is for you!
What to Expect
-

Community Driven
This festival is created by and for you: the community. This is a not-for-profit event and we run the festival collectively. All attendees volunteer to make this trip happen, for example by joining the cooking team, or helping get people to their courses on time.

Three days of outdoor adventure:
Climbing
We’ll be based in the beautiful Peak District, climbing on real rock in an incredible outdoor setting. There’s something for everyone; from bouldering and top rope to sport and trad. Whether you’re getting on rock for the first time or you’re an experienced climber looking for a belay partner, you’ll be supported throughout. Join hosted independent climbing sessions and refine your technique alongside professional climbers, or build confidence and technical skills through instructor-led sessions.Walks and Wanders
Step into a different pace outdoors with guided hikes led by experienced and insightful walkers. You can also join morning movement sessions to start the day grounded and energised. -

Camp Vibes
After a full day outdoors, everything you need is taken care of. Breakfast and dinner are sorted and there are plenty of ways to unwind and connect. Alongside the outdoor program there's a full cultural offering on site, including talks, films and workshops as well as spaces to hang out, connect with others, and simply enjoy the scenery.
Our Values
-

Community
In common, on purpose.
We choose to come together, sharing time, effort, knowledge, and space. Presence, commitment, and mutual responsibility guide how we hold one another. -

Inclusion
Belonging is built, not assumed.
Inclusion is active and ongoing. Courage is part of this: showing up together, supporting each other, and adventuring outdoors while centering those often excluded. -

Strength
Strength grows when it is shared.
We are stronger when we climb alongside one another. Physical, mental, and emotional resilience is built through trust, shared knowledge, and collective care. -

Celebration
Joy is not frivolous. It is vital.
We celebrate presence, effort, growth, and the wonder of being outdoors together. In a culture of scarcity, celebration is a deliberate act of resistance that sustains us collectively. -

Care
We tend to ourselves, with curiosity and care.
Being outdoors is grounding and empowering. We practise with kind curiosity: trying something new, revisiting what didn’t send, pushing gently at edges, and listening when the body says “not today.” -

Mastery
We skill up and share what we know.
We develop technical skill, competence, and safe climbing practices. Sharing knowledge amplifies collective power, creating more pathways for BPOC climbers, instructors, and professionals.
